More expensive maintenance costs of hybrid cars?
Those who are thinking of buying a hybrid car may be asking yourself is harder to maintain a hybrid car than a conventional car of gasoline? The answer is no – unless it fails. Normally, routine maintenance and minor repairs are not more expensive in a hybrid that is a traditional car. In fact, many times they are even cheaper. However, if something goes wrong in the hybrid system after the warranty has ended, you can get rather expensive. When hybrid cars worth more compared to other cars of similar size standard, many buyers actually debating whether it saves money with high fuel prices. The answer depends on several, such as driving and how often you take the cars. Maintenance costs should not be a major factor in funding calculations. The gasoline engine in a hybrid require the same maintenance as any other car. At the beginning of hybrid vehicles, many repair shops do not feel comfortable repairing this type of car, and often not accepted them. For this reason, many owners of these cars had to go directly to the manufacturer’s workshops, which could sometimes be more expensive. Today (of course depending on the country), there are many more mechanical skill to work on hybrid cars. Routine maintenance on a hybrid may be less expensive than a normal car. The gasoline engine turns off when the car is no activity at other times, like when driving at low speeds and the electric motor takes over the operation. This means less engine wear. In the smaller hybrid cars, oil changes are recommended more space than normal cars of similar size
The regenerative braking system in hybrids and less heat generated, means that the brakes and the whole mechanism is usually much longer. With most hybrid cars, does not require regular maintenance on your internal system. There are some models that can be exceptions, as is the case in some Ford, but is rarely the case in other brands. Anyway, there’s always a possibility that some part of the hybrid system, often the set of batteries to fail. Many of these cars are sold with guarantees in its hybrid system with longer durations (up to 10 years in some cases). If you are unlucky enough that the car broke down after this time, the costs can be high.
The good news is that many manufacturers have reduced the price of replacing the batteries in hybrid cars. These prices compared to what used to be worth at the beginning to market these vehicles is significant.
